About Us


Elemental Importers is a wine importing company run by the husband and wife team, Ashley and Ryan Sytsma. While based in Seattle, their real home is traveling the world searching for high value wines from boutique producers. All of their winemakers have a unique story to tell and a desire to work with sustainable business practices.


Being a family bu
siness, they only import wines from family-owned wineries. Ashley and Ryan personally visit each and every producer to guarantee that they respect and care for their workers and for their land with sustainable, often organic, environmental practices. They then work hard to instill these same values throughout their entire global supply chain.


Before launching Elemental Importers in early 2008, Ryan worked in international relations and politics, but it was his time living in Europe that really fostered his love for fine wine and beer.  He was ev
en known to have brewed a couple of batches in a dorm-room closet under the cover of night!


Ashley has worked as a marketing and PR guru in the public and non-profit sectors.  Having lived close to two years in Latin America, she has a soft spot for new world wines and knows just enough Spanish to get her and Ryan in trouble.
